Our History
Rooted in the rich heritage of communications giants, tw telecom was founded in 1993 as a joint venture between U S WEST (a Regional Bell Operating Company), and Time Warner. tw telecom rapidly evolved its business, specializing in facilities-based communications solutions for Enterprise and Carrier customers as well as Local and Federal Government organizations.
In 1998, tw telecom was formed into its own entity, and in May, 1999, had an initial public offering. The tw telecom management team built a foundation to support its customers for the long-term. In 2008, tw telecom officially became the new name of the company.
Today, tw telecom serves markets nationwide on its own facilities, with more than 27,000 route miles of fiber and more than 15,500 “on-net” buildings served. It has two National Operations Centers (NOCs) in Littleton, CO and O’Fallon, MO, where its solutions are monitored 24/7/365 to assure the best and most reliable service for its customers. tw telecom delivers its premier telecommunications solutions from sales and service offices across the nation—and of course, right here in Texas.
